Padang is the main staging point for Mentawai charters and ferry connections. The trip is designed around remote reef zones, not around a marina network.
02
Bali is a practical charter gateway for selected east-of-Bali routes. Lombok and Sumbawa can be land trips too; a boat is useful only where the documented route and operator make it relevant.
03
G-Land and Panaitan require careful operator and park planning. Nias and nearby northern Sumatra routes may use boats, but the exact base, vessel, and transfer should always be verified directly.
